A new year means new trends to consider for your home! Here are the top color trends for 2024 and why experts love them, along with a couple color trends our industry is likely moving away from.
2024 COLOR TRENDS
As you explore which of these trends you could see in your home, it’s important to remember that regardless of what’s “trending” in design right now, choose colors for your home that you love. Trends come and go, but your home should always be a perfect fit for you, reflecting your unique style and needs.
1. LIGHTHEARTED BLUES
Soft blue shades remind us of fresh linen, breezy open windows, and a clear head. Choosing a restrained blue will yield a milder contrast in your home, while still including color. Featured: Sherwin-Williams 2024 Color of the Year, Upward.
2. DARK, MOODY INTERIORS
If light & bright isn’t your style, not to worry. Rich brown and black shades are a top trend this year. As a neutral, these shades add intrigue, contrast, and a grounding effect to any space. Featured: Behr 2024 Color of the Year, Cracked Pepper.
3. EARTHY GREENS
Forest greens have topped the trend charts for awhile now because of the elegant, tranquil, natural feel they bring to any space. Featured: Graham & Brown 2024 Color of the Year, Viridis.
4. WARM OFF-WHITES
Colors like mushroom and taupe are a popular choice for those who want their space to feel warm and clean without going bold with color. They may have undertones of orange or green depending on your space. Featured: Dura Supreme “Mushroom” Cabinetry
5. INVITING ORANGES/YELLOWS
If you’re looking to make your home feel cozier, more inviting, and quietly sophisticated this year, you may want to consider thoughtfully placed warm orange or yellow moments to your home. Featured: Pantone 2024 Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz
6. JEWEL TONES
Deep purples & reds can make your home feel empowered and dynamic, but they can also be more difficult to balance. Using these colors as accents is often recommended. Pink has also seen a resurgence in interiors after the popular Barbie movie was released in 2023.
7. ALMOST-NAVY BLUES
The classic feel of a true navy is elevated and more pigmented with “almost navy” blues that pair well with orange, red, and yellow. Featured: Benjamin Moore 2024 Color of the Year, Blue Nova
Keep an eye out for these trends in the remodeling, fashion, and automotive industries.
